Cette oeuvre abondante et multiforme dont on trouvera dans ce cours les références bibliographiques complètes, affirme le lien unitaire entre le passé (les racines) et le présent en devenir, entre le territoire (des origines) et le monde. Elle révèle aussi, conjointement, une connaissance intime de la culture occitane orale (contes, proverbes, énigmes...) et de la culture écrite (comme les grands écrivains d'oc que sont Frédéric Mistral, Max Rouquette ou Jean Boudou). Mais elle est aussi nourrie d'une solide culture universelle, notamment des grands mythes antiques dont la figure d'Ulysse est une des principales. Parmi les motifs qui la parcourent, le voyage et l'art (à travers la figure de Van Gogh notamment).
